Ballin’ it up this season with the girls’ basketball.

The girls basketball team took the win on Monday Nov. 26 versus Harlan, with the final score being 55-27. This being their first game the girls started off strong with hope to make it to state this season.

“Personally, I don’t think I was 100% prepared for this game,” said senior Noel James, “I didn’t go out last year, so I am still adjusting and learning the plays and where I need to be on defense.”

Despite not being fully prepared, James thought overall it was a successful game for the Cardinals.

“As a team I think we played really well though,” said James, “There are some things we need to work on but we have two more games this week that should help us prepare the more we play together!”

After preparing for the past few weeks, the girls came prepared and ready to play in their Monday night opener against Harlan.

“It felt good to get the win to start the season,” said sophomore Mandy Stogdill, “We knew Harlan was a fast and good defensive team, so we just wanted to come out and start the season off right.”

With a lot of lessons learned from last season these girls have found ways to improve in any areas to hopefully have a shot at state again this season.

“Individually, I would like to have less turnover and better court vision, and as a team we need every single person to contribute on offense,” said senior Konnor Sudmann.

With a full season ahead of them, these girls are ready to put in the hardwork and chase a championship.  Even though that is quite a ways away yet, there is no better way to start the season than with a win.
