After beating St. Albert on Tuesday, Oct. 30, the Cardinals advanced to the state volleyball tournament. Treynor will play Hull Western Christian in the Class 2A quarterfinals on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 2pm. The Treynor group of seniors played Western Christian 5 years ago in 8th grade with the Cardinals coming out on top.

The last time Treynor volleyball team went to state was 2012, and they lost their first game, quarter finals, which was also against Hull Western Christian.

This year they are expecting more. The Cardinals are ranked 7th at state, and they don’t want to just show up and play one game and be done. The Treynor Cardinals volleyball team wants to win and be the Iowa State Class 2A Volleyball Champions.

Senior Konnor Sudmann currently has 361 digs on the season, currently 5th out of all 2A and Treynor sophomore Mia Shipley is currently leading the Cardinals with 256 kills. Senior Sydni Huisman, senior Kayla Chapman, and senior Konnor Sudmann are right behind her.

The game tomorrow is going to be a dog fight from both teams, with only one coming out on top. The winner of Treynor vs. Western Christian will play the winner of Sidney vs. Tri- Center at 4pm on Thursday, Nov. 8.
