Large Group District Speech Contest

On Saturday, January 25th, the Treynor Large Group Speech Team travelled to Fremont Mills for district contest. The team had a total of eleven groups perform. There were three improvisation groups, three ensemble acting groups, one reader’s theater, one group mime, one musical theater, one short film, and one one-act play. Of these eleven groups, seven received a “one” rating and will be continuing on to state contest. These groups are as follows: 

The reader’s theater “Finding Anna” with members Tyler Pollock, Sophie Showalter, Derrick Thompson, Jacob Lang, William Thompson, Elizabeth Nowlin, and Joslyn Guttau. 

The group mime “Television Collision” with members Payton Chapman, Mackenzie Emmart, Keelea Navara, and Ashlyn Vorthmann. 

The ensemble acting group “Accused of Comedy” with members Max Hayes, Derrick Thompson, Sara Hugdell, and Delaney Waterman. 

The one act play “Alien Fish” with members Jacob Lang, Jacob Keay, Callie Copperstone, Evyn Eblen, Keelea Navara, Emma Ehmke, Andralynne Piittmann, William Thompson, Tyler Pollock, Sophie Showalter, and Clarissa Weitzel.

Lastly, all three improvisation groups qualified for state contest. Members of group improv include Ty Kline, Josh Clark, Tyler Reelfs, Maisy Wasenius, Allison Koricic, Luca Vacanti, Mia Nichols, Addy Schnepel, Lanie Petersen, Payton Chapman, Max Hayes, Delaney Waterman, and Clarissa Weitzel. 

State contest will be held on February 8th at Waukee High School.
