On Thursday, October 24th, at the state qualifying cross country meet, coach Dan Schleisman announced his retirement after the team was done running, but before awards.  The team did not perform as well as they expected and his announcement seemed like it would wrap up the season for them. The attitude was somber for the team: they had already accepted defeat, but were satisfied with how they performed over the season.  This was quickly changed when the results were posted on twitter: Treynor had gotten third. Everyone erupted with excitement; their main goal for the season had been accomplished: the team was going to state!

Although the boys made it to state as a team, special mention goes to Derrick Thompson and Cole Dooley for placing well enough to qualify as individuals.  Derrick placed 7th and Cole placed 14th. Ryan Konz narrowly missed qualifying individually, finishing in 17th place. The rest of the varsity team followed: with Jacob Reelfs finished 27th, Mason Yochum finished 40th, Jacob Keay finished 42nd, and Jacob Hrasky finished 52nd.

Congratulations as well to Tori Castle.  She finished 3rd overall, qualifying for state.  Tori was followed by Carissa Spanier in 21st, Claire Yochum in 61st, Mira Dreyer in 69th, and Josie Davidson in 78th.

Special thanks to Coach Schleisman.  We could not do it without him and are really glad to end our season with him.
