On Wednesday, October 2nd, the Junior Optimist (JOI) Club met for their annual cookie baking project. Every year, the club bakes over one thousand cookies for the troops. The project is sponsored by the JOI leaders, as well as Jnele Keysor, who helps with the baking. 21 club members helped with the baking this year. This particular project is a favorite among club members. Club president Clarissa Weitzel said, “I like baking cookies for the troops because it’s a fun way to give back to the men and women that protect us.” Cookie baking is the club’s kickoff event, and many more projects are sure to come.
